SUMMER

Castner Glacier

Half-day hike

Difficulty: Easy

What to Expect:

A half-day hike to the toe of the Castner Glacier, following along side Castner Creek for a majority of the hike, surrounded 360 degree mountain views. Viewing the glacier from a distance is safest this time of year. Out & Back style hike, around of 3 miles round trip, on a mostly flat, hard-packed, rocky trail.

Guests should bring summer-style hiking clothes, adequate hiking shoes, backpack, snacks/water, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, etc. 

 

Where to Meet
On the morning of the tour, meet your personal Guide in the lobby of Delta Accommodations, in Delta Junction, which is about 2.5 hours south of Fairbanks, to get oriented. From here, you'll continue on to the trailhead which is an additional 50 miles south, following behind your Guide in your own vehicle. Delta Junction is the last stop for all facilities before the trailhead, including most cell service!

Alpine Ridge

Half-day hike

Difficulty: Moderate

What to Expect:

Full-day hike on the ridge line above the Canwell Glacier, getting a top-down view of the entire glacier. Out & Back style hike, average of 6 miles round trip, though length can be customizable as needed. Mostly hard-packed, rocky trail, potential for one small stream crossing depending on season and rainfall.

Guests should bring summer-style hiking clothes, adequate hiking shoes, backpack, snacks/water, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, etc.
